As usual in a hurricane style the 2009-2010 Karnataka state film awards announced in 2011 were presented in 2012 May 15th at Gnanajyothi Auditorium in Central College by Karnataka Chief Minister with Home and Transport Minister, Congress I former minister Roshan Baig, Thara Anuradha, KCA chair person and government officials Basavaraju and Bevinamaradha on the dais.

The Karnataka Chief Minister in his speech did not confirm the sanction of subsidy from 75 films to 100 films. I will look in to it he said and recounted the BJP government doing wonderful support to Kannada cinema in the last four years.

The busy schedule of the chief minister of Karnataka converted the awards evening to finish in a hurry and the preparation of profile of the award winners was a waste as it was not displayed on the screen precisely. The Congress I member Roshan Baig was also in hurry and he was instructing the anchors and those who bring the award materials to make it fast.

A few highlights of the two hour state award event held on Monday night in Bengaluru.

· After Nada Geethe Jayabharatha Jananiya Thanujaathe…..the Kannada Jeevaswara a documentary was displayed on the screen at this event was not well conceived as many were left out in it. It was directed by Ajay Kumar for the concept of Maya Chandra. Jayanth Kaikini had penned the song.

· Kalabaireshwara bharathanatyam dance by actress Bhavana and others was well performed, It was directed by Sathyanarayana and Pravid D Rao music was well received in the auditorium.

· Dr Rajakumar songs Hosa Belaku…..Naa Ninna mareyalaare and Janarinda Mele Bandhe…..performed by actor Ajith and Roopika.

· Chief Minister released the Smarana Sanchike for 2009-2010 award winners.

· It was hat trick producer Basanthkumar Patil – in the absence of Padmasri Dr Girish Kasaravalli he took the honor and for Hejjegalu his daughter came up on the stage.

· Tippu alias Ekambareshwar LN playback singer of 4200 songs so far came from Chennai to receive the honor. His song Hey Paaru….for Raj the Showman film of V Harikrishna music got him the state award.

· Deepa dubbing artist came late and after the felicitation she received the honors.

· Karnataka Chief Minister expressed his tiredness after presenting the awards.

· There was no gap in the presentation of awards. It happened in one stretch.

· The award winners were among the audience side. It took lot of time for reaching the dais.

· The award for late Dr Vishnuvardhana for Aptha Rakshaka Kannada cinema was received by Dr Bharathi Vishnuvardhana.

· The attendance from the Kannada cinema industry was poor for the state award evening.

· The superstars like Upendra, Darshan, Sudeep, Shivarajakumar, Puneeth Rajkumar, V Ravichandran, Ramya, Ragini, Aindrita Ray, Ganesh, Vijay, Yash, Yogish, technicians and many others did not turn up to the Karnataka state government awards for Kannada films.
