It was a memorable Thursday for Tamil film fraternity as the National awards were presented in New Delhi for the year 2011.

The awards were presented by President Prathiba Patil and the makers and actors of several films in Tamil cinema who won the awards were present to personally collect their awards.

Appukutty, who was adjudged the best suporting actor, director and producers of Vaagai Sooda Vaa, Thiyagarajan Kumararajah, the maker of Aranya Kandam among others were present on the occasion to walk home with awards.
