Ishta Kannada Movie Review

STORY:

‘Ishta’ is the saga of one side love in the beginning, two side love in the middle and three side love by the end of the film.

Naadha a college student falls to the roughness of Krishna. The director fails to give strong reason for love. Naadha seeing Krishna and her mother separation intends to patch the relationship. Why Krishna is disliked by his mother. When he was young Krishna chops off his father who was raping a girl in front of his mother and his sister looking in their home. This is the extent of crudity the first time director thinks. Hats off to the director!

So Krishna is imprisoned for 14 years for killing his father. When he returns he wants to live with his mother and sister. Krishna mother now a flower seller in front of the temple kicks her son straight on the chest in front of public. Krishna finds it impossible to live with his mother. This is what the female protagonist Naadha observes.

As if no job to do Nadha goes behind the mechanic Krishna and before interval it is love from the one side. After interval Krishna also loves Nadha. There is an intruder to this love Raviteja who is relative of Nadha. Raviteja knowing that Nadha is in love with Krishna hatches a plot to kill Krishna. That is not so easy. Krishna faces fresh charges this time and he is taken to custody.

Even before Krishna returns the crooked Ravi Teja kills the cop and his wife – parents of Naadha. Applying more emotions on the brain of Naadha, Raviteja marries her but the end is quite different.

Krishna is freed from charges and he knows the truth. He comes to save Nadha from her maternal uncle but hell breaks out. When Raviteja henchmen express the true colors – Nadha finds it difficult to live. She kills herself and urges Krishna to put a rock on her face so that one would judge who it is. This is something very crude part of the film.

ANLYSIS:

This director RP Krishna should be sent to a training institute in direction. The director should know the pulse of the viewers to at least 25 percent. The director miserably fails to meet the present scenario with many inconsequential scenes quite often in the film.

There are something told in the dialogues comes in the visual presentation. The very first scene of the film in the pitch dark the hero lifts a small piece of rock and throws with heroine on ground. Audiences are under the impression that he has smashed the heroine.

First of all the building of characters is not good. The camera angles for the Bhumika and dubbing done is the major bottleneck. In the character building of male protagonist it suddenly picks anger and songs also appear suddenly for that character. A boy works in the bar is forcibly made to drink the liquor as a punishment. With girl friend next to him our hero opens the quarter bottle and gulps it. She watches it in a serene look. With no proper earning there is enough stock of quarter bottle in the pocket of our hero.

The other sundry characters do not add up to the film is another lapse on the part of the director. The extent of telling things in crude style should have been pleasant with a title like ‘Ishta’. ‘Ishta’ meaning ‘Like’ but there is hardly anything to like in this film.  The portion of mechanic hero and college heroine is nothing but of portions of ‘Cheluvina Chittara’.

The novelty in narration could have saved this film from poor standards. That has not happened at the pre and post interval. In the days of advanced age a girl from up to date family (daughter of a cop) is expected to make a right choice of her counterpart in life.

Director RP Krishna is not convincing even in the songs. One of the shots in the song shows the hung costume that is obviously the next costume of the hero.

Had the care taken the film would have been fair. The crude style of this director is not for the Kannada standards.

PERFORMANCE:

Santosh is tolerable in his role but it should have been toned down at places. Bhumika is short in height and her dubbing has been the major flaw. Ravi Teja as tormentor is misfit. Srikanth Heblikar as cop is quite competent.

TECHNICALITY:

Ninna Kannalli Nanna Kannittu…..Naa Papi Lokadalli Nayakanu…..and Nee Ishtane….are OK from music director Indrani Chabria.

Mahadev in his camera work is less than average. There are several scenes that shake and disturb the vision.

Last but not the Least – There are enough measures to save money!

CRUDITY IN ‘ISHTA’IS  DIFFICULTY!  - Score – 1.5/5
